The sbaMass is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1971 by a group of concerned parents of children with Spina Bifida. A member of the Spina Bifida Association, the mission of sbaMass is to promote the prevention of Spina Bifida and to enhance the lives of all affected. The sbaMass serves individuals with Spina Bifida, (prenatal through the life span) their families and caregivers in Massachusetts and the surrounding New England states. During the past six years, sbaMass has experienced significant expansion. In alignment with the Strategic Plan the following has been accomplished: employed a part time, Operations Associate; leased office space; expanded educational and social events for parents of young children, tweens( ages 7-12) , teens( ages 13-16) and youth and adults( 17 +); increased fundraising capabilities with Team sbaMass participation in the Boston Marathon and Falmouth Road Race; enhanced outreach efforts to medical offices, Spina Bifida clinics and participation in public awareness events; increased availability of financial benefits to sbaMass constituents, including a annual financial benefit , a Conference Scholarship to support constituents in attending the annual SBA conference and development of the Jean Driscoll Award for an individual with Spina Bifida. Through the efforts of Team sbaMass we are able to continue to provide and expand programs and financial assistance to constituents. Thank you your support of sbaMass is appreciated.
